After weeks of practicing Hand Lettering, I can finally say that I am ready to decorate my friends’ Bridal Shower! Once I finally got the hang of which supplies I needed and how to actually use the supplies, I quickly realized I needed to narrow down my goal to one phrase. Being that the Bridal Shower is my next event coming up at the end of August, I chose Mr. and Mrs. Check out my video below to see my progress and my final product thanks to my many online resources!

Although I can happily say that I completed my goal and will hopefully be able to make a beautiful sign for the shower, I will say that I am excited to go out and buy a workbook for more practice! There were many bloggers or youtubers that offered practice sheets to be printed offline, but many of the options I liked cost money. If I was going to spend any more on this project than I already did on the pens, I wanted to save my money for a workbook. Since hand lettering is something that can be strengthened by tracing, I would’ve loved to have a workbook on hand with me to help me when I couldn’t figure out how to connect letters or even make a really tricky one. If I had chosen a different topic to learn solely online, like making a scarf, I don’t think I would’ve run into this problem. However, I’d imagine that with each topic comes their own challenges with learning fully online.
At the end of my experience of learning something new only online I will say the biggest pro is that there are ENDLESS resources out there, as long as you choose something relatively well-known. If one resource doesn’t work, try another! If you didn’t find the answer you were looking for, you can literally google it and probably find a video on it to help you even more. I will also say that although there are endless resources online, it never fails to have multiple different sources of information and practice, as I’m sure my writing will only get better after I go to the craft store and buy a workbook. Here’s to #myhandathandlettering and wish me luck as I continue my journey!
